With the holiday decorations finally down (and my separation anxiety over…see you next year, favorite ornaments and happy decorations!) life is returning to a normal pace, which of course means new craft projects! I pulled out some vintage fabric I had been saving hoarding for a while now and got inspired for a new critter.
I adore vintage fabric, and usually buy it anytime I see it at a thrift store. I bought some wonderful large upholstery fabric samples from the 60′s at Last Chance Thrift in Decatur (before it moved across the street) and have been hoarding it ever since. It is a great large psychadelic-meets-paisley print that I was afraid to cut into. Alas, I went for it…deciding it would make the perfect elephant ear for these new vintage inpspired felt baby elephants! I got down to business and made about 10 of these elephants, using vintage buttons for the eye and vintage zipper bits as the tales! I had been saving these zipper bits ever since making some zippered pouches about a year ago. I even came close to throwing them out…what would I do with them anyway?! Sometimes craft hoarding is a good thing (don’t tell my husband I said that).
So brand new in the SHOP, baby felephants!
